Gourmet food on our Scottish cruises
We are bringing to this, our own boat, the distilled experiences gathered during years of providing hospitality on an array of luxury yachts around the world for International clients and their guests, all accustomed to the highest standards of organisation, service and exceptional cooking.
Nothing sharpens an appetite quite like invigorating sea air and here we are totally spoilt, as the local natural larder is a chef’s dream…after travelling the world, it has become Mary's favourite area to source fabulous local produce and create wonderful dishes. She strives to make every meal a delight and is very happy to cater for different diets and tastes.
A great array of the finest fish, available glitteringly fresh off the boat from the surrounding seas; local scallops, oysters and mussels; crab, lobster and langoustine harvested from the sea lochs; the Highland cattle, blackface lamb and deer grazing the hills and glens; and root, leaf and herb crops nurtured in the fertile soils. Game, cheeses, smoked foods, fruits and berries…..and, of course, the finest whiskies and craft beers.
We aim to source prime seasonal ingredients from the area’s finest producers and suppliers, and believe us; they're all a real joy to cook with – and even better to eat! For the most part we get our fish fresh from local fishermen via 'Buth Bheag', the little fish deli on the quayside next to the Pontoons in Kyle from which we operate. Our meat comes from local suppliers either via our local butcher in Kyle or from fine foods supplier Letterfinlay. Our bread usually comes from the very cute "Wee Bakery" run by Manuela near Dornie (of Eilean Donan Castle fame). To accompany your toast we have local home - made jams from Garybuie B&B on Skye - the gooseberry is particularly scrummy! We have pleasure in including locally made finest chocolates from Glenshiel Chocolates run by Finlay McDonald. We stock a range of single malt whiskies on board including Skye's own Talisker and we are looking forward to including whiskies from the two new distilleries on Raasay and Torabhaig on Skye. Boutique and small batch gins are now making waves and we try to include Scottish gins in our shelves, including Misty Isle and Usige Lusach both made on Skye itself.
If that is not enough to reassure you that your Red Moon Cruise will be a culinary delight, here is a 'taster' of what our Red Moon guests think:
